Defining The Headers On The FMCSA PSP Profile

First of all, PSP means Pre-Employment Screening Program. When you request all the information that the FMCSA has in their databases about you, you are requesting your PSP profile.

REGISTRATION_DATE (Source shows all of the Data Element Definitions in the Inspection File/report): Indicates the date the certification of correction of defects was registered. (I don't understand this.)

CI_STATUS_CODE: "Indicates the status of the inspection. (U= Unprocessed, T= To Census Search, C= Complete, N= Non-match, I= Intrastate, H= FMCSA hold, P= Potential Resolution, X=Non-motor carrier)"

Aspen is a software application used by FMCSA and most State Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) enforcement agencies to conduct inspections on CMVs and drivers. The software runs on laptop computers either in a mobile unit (State police cruiser), or at a fixed inspection site. Aspen is used to collect inspection details and print the associated report. SNET (SAFETYNET): “A database management system that allows entry, access, analysis, andreporting of data from driver/vehicle inspections, crashes, compliance reviews, assignments, andcomplaints. It is operated at State safety agencies and Federal Divisions and interfaces withASPEN, SAFER, MCMIS, and State systems. Electronic safety information exchange functions have been available to inspectors in Connecticut since about 1992, when the first "pen-based" laptop computers (the forerunners to today's MDTs) were deployed in enforcement vehicles. At first, ASPEN inspection data were transferred from the field to a central office using floppy diskettes, and from there the data were uploaded to SAFETYNET. Later upgrades in technology for roadside enforcement included dial-up modems connected to an electronic bulletin board, cell phone dial-up, touchscreen laptops, and, starting around 1994, wireless transmission.

Use of automated procedures for data collection in the field to eliminate typing errors in critical fields on accident and inspection reports, like USDOT number, plate number and VIN. An example of effective automated procedures is the bar-coding of motor carrier identifying information on cab cards and the use of pen-based, lap-top computers to read the bar-coded information and automatically enter the data on state enforcement forms.

Perhaps the key issue which separates Christians who are pro-Israel from those like Stephen Sizer, who are actively anti-Zionist, is the doctrine of replacement theology. That is the doctrine that the Christian Church replaced the Jews as "the Chosen" of God, and that therefore all the Old Testament promises to the Jews must be viewed as promises to the Christian Church.

A mainstay of replacement theology, as I understand it, was that God had punished the Jews permanently because they would not accept Jesus as the Messiah. This outlook was a major ideological underpinning of anti-Semitism in the Middle Ages. A corollary of this doctrine was the curse of Eusebius, which stated that the Jews would never be allowed to rebuild Jerusalem because of their sins. Replacement theology lost its popularity with the reformation.... (What is the Reformation?)

But ever since the Reformation, there have been some small groups of Protestants who have rejected replacement theology and who believe—as Jews do—that the word “Israel” in the Bible means the Jews. Under this reading, the Jews continue to be the beneficiaries of God’s love and promises, and the Bible becomes an exhortation (a speech or written passage intended to persuade, inspire, or encourage) to Zionism and philo-Semitism (is an interest in, respect for, and appreciation of the Jewish people).

In early 20th-century America, the nascent fundamentalist movement embraced this minority view and rejected replacement theology. As this movement grew and spread throughout America, the number of Christians who adhered to this theology grew as well, to the point that it is the ascendant strain of American Christianity today. Thus fundamentalist/evangelical support for Israel is not a trend, fad, or public relations ploy—it is a bedrock religious belief.


While Israel was always important to evangelicals, a recent event did make Israel even more of a priority. On September 11, 2001, evangelicals recognized along with many other Americans that radical Islam was the greatest threat facing our country and that we were in a war with its proponents. And in this war, Israel is seen as an ally and as the first line of defense of Judeo-Christian civilization. Support for this embattled ally has moved to center stage.

The PUsher

Please note: The following isn't as localized as it appears, and isn't meant to be demeaning, derogatory, etc, etc. This is just the way it is in the trucking industry, no matter who the driver or dispatcher is. Until they come up with a way to move trucks by remote control, or find a way to turn us into robots, it'll always be this way. And it's important to note that most of my trips are event free and painless; however, it's hard for me to remember this in the heat of the moment.

Trip 207

When you're telling yourself, "I gotta get to sleep; I gotta get to sleep; I gotta get to sleep...." it's hard to get to sleep. So when 7:30PM rolled around, the time my 10 hours was up, I was already tired. I hooked to the trailer, picked up the bills at the guard shack, and headed towards Rock Hill SC.

BTW - LonnieMac told me the other day he was leaving AMX. I reckon he'll miss the golf cart ....

ME: I hate doing an overnight trip after I've been up all day. I got to shut my eyes for a while.


It was for the record more than anything else because nobody was in the office. I made it to the Petro at Carnesville GA before I decided I was becoming a safety hazard. I set the Screaming Meanie for 3 hours. When it went off I got up and started driving again, but I was having to stomp my feet on the floor to stay awake. I was praying too. After the sun started coming up it got a little easier to keep my eyes open, and I delivered shortly after 8:00AM eastern. Only an hour or so late.

At that point I went ahead and called Whatagreatguy because 007 and Princess Leeya have gotten in the habit of telling me to call him when their plans fall through. I got his voice mail and left a message that (paraphrasing) I would probably he told to call him anyway, and I was just beating 007 to the punch. I told him the Qualcomm messages pretty much said it all; and that I hated to run it illegally; and that I didn't want to have a wreck because I was too tired to drive, etc. I hoped the message made sense, because I could barely remember where I was. Almost immediately after I hung up, he sent the following:

ME: I'm afraid to drive any further until the sun comes up. Fog is so thick I can't see and I'm exhausted.


Again, it was for the record more than anything else. I was only 75 miles from Montgomery by this time, but the fog was messing up my perception of things around me kind of like Black Dog hallucinations (from the movie Black Dog), or white line fever, maybe. It happens to drivers who are extremely fatigued. Anyway, I slept a couple of hours, and made it to the Montgomery yard around 8:30AM this morning:
